Checking Outage Status

Oncor's outage map shows real-time information about current power outages in your area, including the number of customers affected, estimated restoration time, and cause of the outage. Access the outage map through Oncor's website or mobile app. You can also call the automated outage hotline for updates on your specific address.

Reporting a Power Outage

Report outages to Oncor through their website, mobile app, phone hotline, or text service. Before reporting, check your circuit breakers to rule out an internal issue. When reporting, have your account number ready and note any downed power lines or other hazards. Never approach downed lines — call 911 for immediate safety concerns.

Restoration Priority

Oncor follows a systematic restoration process: first, major transmission lines and substations are repaired to restore power to the largest number of customers. Next, main distribution feeders are addressed, followed by individual neighborhood lines. Critical facilities like hospitals and emergency services receive priority. Restoration times depend on the severity and cause of the outage.

Outage Preparedness

Prepare for outages by keeping flashlights, batteries, a battery-powered radio, and a first aid kit accessible. Maintain a supply of bottled water and non-perishable food for at least 72 hours. If you depend on medical equipment, register with Oncor's medical baseline program for priority restoration and have a backup power plan.
