Understanding Your Bill
Your ComEd bill includes several components: base charges, energy charges, fuel adjustments, taxes, and fees.
ComEd delivery rates are approximately 8–10¢/kWh for delivery charges alone. Your total rate depends on whether you use ComEd's default supply or an alternative supplier. Illinois has a deregulated market, so supply and delivery charges are separate components on your bill.
Why is my ComEd bill so high?
High ComEd bills can result from seasonal usage changes, capacity charges during peak periods, alternative supplier markups, or delivery charge increases. Illinois's deregulated market means your supply rate may differ from ComEd's default rate. Upload your bill to verify both supply and delivery charges.
What is the difference between supply and delivery on my ComEd bill?
ComEd bills separate supply charges (the cost of generating electricity) from delivery charges (the cost of transmitting it to your home). If you have an alternative supplier, your supply charges come from them while ComEd handles delivery. Utility Check verifies both components independently.
How can I verify my ComEd bill is correct?
Upload your ComEd bill to Utility Check. We recalculate supply charges, delivery charges, capacity charges, and all applicable riders and surcharges. If you have an alternative supplier, we verify those charges against your contract terms.
Does Utility Check support ComEd?
Yes. Utility Check fully supports ComEd bill verification in Illinois. We verify both supply and delivery charges, capacity charges, transmission fees, and all applicable riders on your bill.
